The Allen Study

The aims of the Allen Study

The primary aim of this longitudinal data linkage project is to examine the health and health outcomes of stroke survivors over an extensive period of their adult life post-stroke.

The Allen Study has four secondary aims:

1. To investigate the lived experiences of stroke survivors and their health behaviours to help cope and live with stroke over time;

2. To examine the comprehensive post-stroke rehabilitation services (including hospital-based health services, home-based health services/practices, and community-based health services/practices) and related medical costs over time;

3. To investigate the opportunities and challenges around secondary stroke prevention and how such prevention can be strengthened/improved across survivors, practitioners and others;

4. To facilitate and promote immediate, midĀterm and long-term research and policy collaboration and capacity building around postĀstroke rehabilitation, complication management, and secondary stroke prevention.
